Off the EDGE contains a multitude of events (PDF calendar) across the Atlanta area: movement-based performances, peer learning sessions with world-renowned contemporary artists, and panel discussions.

These pockets (zak is Dutch for pocket) of conversation bring artmakers together to invigorate and refresh our perspectives on the places where we create.

At the Atlanta Contemporary Art Center tonight (7pm) you will hear the contemporary chamber music ensemble, Bent Frequency, performing followed by a panel discussion. You can read about it at Creative Loafing here.

The legendary Rina Schenfeld is here in Atlanta this week for the Off the EDGE events (PDF calendar) and we’re so excited!

She has a busy week: she’s been in residency at Kennesaw State University with their Dance students, last night she gave an intimate talk about her career with Cynthia Bond Perry at Emory University, and this Sunday she will perform the closing acts at the Goat Farm!

"Wanderlust..." George Staib, Kathleen Wessel, and T. Lang.

This new and exciting swarm of art and movement will present itself through a myriad of initiatives that are free to the public: a comprehensive artist-to-artist exchange series; a two-day affair of performance-based works by nine Atlanta artists (EDGE/Public); a conversation series,
(EDGE/Zak); a week-long residency with Israeli modern dance legend Rina Schenfeld, youth
outreach initiatives (EDGE/Backstage),  a visual art exhibition in the Rialto lobby (EDGE/2D), and
more. The highlight of this inaugural contemporary performance event is the International Guest Artists Series, which features two nights of performances on the Rialto stage. Off the EDGE is one that will move the movers. For lovers of performance-based contemporary art, this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity!
